A quick background on design systems.

In the early to mid-20th century, industries like manufacturing and architecture recognized the need for standardization and consistency. Think about how a car manufacturer uses the same types of screws, bolts, and components across different models to ensure efficiency and quality. This idea of reusable parts and standardized processes is a core concept in design systems.

As digital products like websites and apps became more complex, the need for a similar approach to design became apparent. Early web developers started creating UI libraries of reusable components, and designers began documenting their styles and guidelines. Over time, these practices evolved into what we now call design systems.
